TECHNICAL BUYING GUIDE

Batch consistency for repeat orders

Turn one approved sample into a controlled specification.

1. Define what is actually approved

Record the part number, capacity, firmware, component details and label or packaging revision. Distinguish the manufacturer’s fixed specification from fields that may vary by production batch.

2. Agree substitution rules

Ask which changes require notice or a new sample. State whether controller, NAND, DRAM, firmware or packaging changes are acceptable and what evidence is required before acceptance.

3. Make receiving checks repeatable

Define the inspection sample, identification checks and functional test. Agree the serial or lot records to accompany the goods and retain the report with the purchase order.

4. Plan for end-of-life changes

Ask how product revisions, discontinuation and replacement proposals will be communicated. Evaluate a replacement against the application and acceptance criteria rather than treating the same capacity as an automatic equivalent.

Use the actual product datasheet and host documentation for final decisions. Further reading: Samsung SSD installation guidance and Kingston memory overview.
